A: Yes. Group Piano for Beginners will teach fundamental piano playing skills including basic music theory and how to read music notations such as notes, rhythm, fingerings, and so on.
A: After taking this course, students can expect to enroll in “Group Piano for Intermediate-beginner” or “ Group Piano for Intermediate.” However, individual levels will vary. It is best to contact the instructors of these two classes to see if an audition is needed.
A: There is no audition for chorale, however there are auditions for both large a cappella and Chamber Singers (the elite a cappella group). The large a cappella audition is fairly simple and only one step. For the more elite group, the audition is a pretty rigorous three-step process. This includes testing on pitch, range, and ability to learn difficult a cappella music quickly.
A: Chorale performs 1-2 times a semester, large a cappella 2-3 times a semester and Chamber Singers as much as 10-12 times a semester. The Chamber Singers also perform off campus for various events.
A: 0-unit students simply attend class. 2-unit students receive an additional 4 hours of private instruction over the course of the semester in addition to the weekly classes.
